Program Benefits

No Program Fees

There are no program fees associated with the Cruise Line Programs.

Medical Care & Insurance Coverage

Free medical care on board is provided for all crew members, provided that there are no pre-existing health conditions or diseases. Medical coverage is not provided while you are on vacation in your home country.

Meals

Food/meals on board are provided to all crew members at designated crew dining area (crew mess hall). Food for crew members is fresh prepared dally by designated team of crew cooks on board. Meal timings are breakfast, lunch, dinner, and night snack. Food is displayed in self service / buffet style where crew members have choice of wide variety of international and ethnic dishes and desserts catering to every taste.

Competitive Salary

Salaries are paid at the end of every month, in cash and in US dollars, including overtime, if any. Crew members employed in tipping positions receive their tips at the end of the month along with their salary and any overtime.

Flights & Visa Fees

Flights will be provided, and the costs associated with the visa fees will be refunded.

Accommodation

Depending on your position, department, and ship assignment, you will share your cabin with 2 or 3 other crew members of the same sex/gender, usually from the same department, but not necessarily of your nationality. Every cabin has its own toilet and shower facilities, a TV set, and an onboard telephone connection.

Uniforms

Upon signing on, you will be provided with uniforms. Based on your position and department, you might receive two or even three sets of uniforms to wear on different occasions, depending on your duty. Shoes are not provided, and you will be required to bring a pair of shoes appropriate for your department and position. Shoes can be purchased on board at wholesale prices from the crew store.

Welfare

Life on board is also about having fun and good quality of life. On every ship there is designated welfare team organizing variety of social, sporting and entertainment events for crew members.

  • No! There are no religious or cultural restrictions for applicants. Odyssey International represents Equal Opportunity Employers, and decisions regarding applicants’ employment are based solely on skills, professional qualifications, and experience.

  • All decisions concerning approval for employment or rejection of applicants, as well as decisions regarding position and salary entitlement, are made by our clients. Odyssey International is responsible only for identifying, pre-screening, and preparing potential candidates who meet the standards and qualification requirements of our clients.

  • Within a week, you will receive an email or notification about the outcome of your interview with the clients.

  • Based on Ship Itineraries and International Maritime Regulations, different Cruise Lines will require a set of different documentation for their crew members. Odyssey International can help you prepare your required documentation. However, having valid documentation does not guarantee employment.

  • Joining schedules/assignments are made by the HR Departments of the clients based on operational needs and positions available. Some applicants might experience extended periods of waiting before deployment arrangements could be made, due to temporary limited position availability or as a result of events beyond the control of Odyssey International and its clients, such as a global economic recession, armed conflicts, natural disasters, terrorist acts, etc.

  • Absolutely not! We do not accept any form of financial or material gratuity from our applicants. We do not have a “service charge” or “placement fee.” The services are free of charge to all applicants, with no exceptions.

  • Anyone who participated in a J-1 Intern or Trainee Program in the United States with ITN or Odyssey and has sufficient experience in hotels, cruise ships, catering, or hospitality may apply for a position that matches their experience, knowledge, and qualifications.

  • Every applicant for the Cruise Lines Program must successfully pass a personal preliminary interview with our representative in order to be approved as a qualified candidate for employment. Only applicants approved by Odyssey International are presented for interview with the clients.

  • Yes! There are certain guidelines related to the age of applicants for shipboard employment. All applicants, without exception, must be at least 21 years old at the time of application. Applicants for entry-level positions should not be older than 35 at the time of application. Applicants for senior management positions should not be older than 45 at the time of application.
