General Information

Description of the Host Property:
Miraval Austin rests on 220 acres in the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, a haven of ancient trees, rare songbirds, fertile wildlife, all overlooking Lake Travis inside Texas Hill Country. This resort boasts 117 rooms, the award-winning Life in Balance Spa, two infinity pools, the Cypress Creek Organic Farm, an equine center, our Body Mindfulness Center, and so much more. Miraval's mantra is "life is better when in balance,” and the resort is grounded in mindfulness. Fitness, meditation, yoga, integrative wellbeing, equine, hiking, biking activities are featured, including area-inspired offerings like hatchet throwing and archery.


Description of the Training:
Gain invaluable skills and knowledge in the Food and Beverage department of a world-leading luxury hotel/resort through a J-1 hospitality internship or traineeship program at Miraval Hotels & Resorts. During your program, you will receive training and mentorship from industry leaders in the F&B field as you rotate through different outlets on the property. This rotational program is designed to give you exposure to the international hospitality industry and give you the experience to excel in your career when you return to your home country.

Unlike most J-1 Program providers, a regional ITN representative will guide you through a streamlined registration process, thanks to ITN and ODYSSEY’s all-inclusive approach. ITN and ODYSSEY will be on hand to provide you with the very best personalized service from the time that you arrive in the United States until your departure from the United States upon completion of your program.

Description of the Location:
Austin is known as the Live Music Capital of the World® but that's just the beginning of what they're saying these days. Austin is also home to a wonderful ballet, world-class museums, one-of-a-kind shopping and beautiful outdoor spaces. With so many things to do in Austin, you can just as easily spend your morning paddling the lake as you can strolling through a celebrated history museum.


Requirements

  • Conversational English required. 

  • Must be a current student of a Hospitality or Tourism post-secondary academic institution. 

  • Or recent graduate (less than 12 months ago) of a Hospitality or Tourism post-secondary academic institution. 

  • Or a graduate of a Hospitality or Tourism post-secondary academic institution (more than 12 months ago) with 12 months of verifiable related work experience.

  • Or must have 5 years of verifiable related work experience.
